MARSHALL, Texas -- Melissa Thomas scored 18 points and Nicole Tucker grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the UT Tyler women's basketball team to an 80-71 win over ETBU on Thursday night at Ornelas Gym.

The win was the Patriots' first since Jan. 19.

UT Tyler (10-12, 7-11) used a 10-0 run mid-way through the first half, led by Lindsey Hausmann and She'Cara Humphrey, to jump out to a 13-point lead with 7:27 remaining. The Patriots then carried a 38-27 lead into the half.

ETBU was never able to close the gap despite out-shooting the Patriots in the second half.  Overall, the UT Tyler took advantage of 16 Lady Tiger turnovers to the tune of 24 points.

Humphrey finished the night with 14 points while Hausmann had 11. Alley Allen chipped added 10 points.

The win helps the Patriots remain in contention for the fourth spot in the ASC Championship Tournament. On Saturday, UT Tyler travels to Centenary for a non-conference meeting.
