The Patriot women’s team will host the Ladies at 1 p.m., followed by the men’s team plays the Gents at 3 p.m. at the Herrington Patriot Center.

“This exhibition game will give us the opportunity to raise money to help those areas that saw such devastation due to Hurricane Harvey,” said UT Tyler women’s basketball coach Kendra Hassell. “This is just a small way that we can help those in need and I hope the community will come out and support this cause.”

“I am really excited that Centenary College is joining us as we host an exhibition to raise money for the hurricane relief fund,” added UT Tyler men’s coach Jamon Copeland. “This is a great opportunity for both institutions to be able to give to such a great cause.  Our staff and players are looking forward to the event.”

The cost of admission is $5 with all proceeds from the UT Tyler and Centenary basketball doubleheader going directly to the Rebuild Texas Relief Fund (www.rebuildtx.org). The Rebuild Texas Fund has raised over $78 million which approaching its goal of $100 million with the stated purpose of, “helping people in our time of greatest need, and also about addressing the long-term effort ahead of us. Rebuilding our communities across Texas in the wake of Hurricane Harvey will take all of us working together for years to come.”

The exhibition games will be the first contests for the both UT Tyler basketball programs who are set to open their season the third week of November with the men playing at Texas Lutheran on Nov. 16 and the women hosting Howard Payne on Nov. 17 in their season openers.

“This game will also help our team continue to grow as we prepare for the season,” Hassell said. “Exhibition games are useful as a tool in helping players get used to working together and they afford us the opportunity to evaluate our players and lineups in a situation where the outcome does not matter.”
