TYLER – The UT Tyler basketball programs will host McMurry in a pair of Monday night American Southwest Conference games starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Herrington Patriot Center following a pair of wins over Hardin-Simmons.

The No. 21-ranked women’s team is coming off a 70-55 win over HSU on Saturday to extend a home winning streak to 19 games. Michelle Obach led the Patriots (6-2, 1-2 ASC) with 17 points against the Cowgirls, while Makenzi May and Shuntay Raglin had 14 points each in the win. Dia Evans would add 12 points and five rebounds as the Patriots snapped a two-game losing streak to open ASC play with the win. Obach hit a milestone in the game as she now has 1,001 career points in 69 games at UT Tyler. She is the seventh player in program history to surpass 1,000 points and is averaging 15.4 points per game this season. May hit four 3-pointers on Saturday and now has 179 career 3-pointers which is second all-time in UT Tyler history and is approaching Melissa Thomas’s record of 186 from 2007-12. May also has 890 career points as a Patriot.

The McMurry women’s team (2-4, 1-2 ASC) is coming off a 69-67 loss at LeTourneau on Saturday after earning an 84-77 win over East Texas Baptist last week in its first conference win of the season. The Patriots and War Hawks will tip at 5:30 p.m. UT Tyler earned an 82-45 win at McMurry last season in Abilene and are 2-9 all-time against the War Hawks.

The UT Tyler men’s team (5-3, 2-1 ASC) is coming off a thrilling 106-101 triple overtime win over HSU on Saturday and will host the War Hawks (4-3, 2-1 ASC) at 7:30 p.m. in its final home game of the 2016 calendar year. The Patriots are now 3-1 at home this season after scoring the fifth most points in a game in program history and improving to 2-1 in triple overtime contests. UT Tyler has played all three of its triple overtime games against HSU, including a 76-64 (3OT) win on Dec. 4, 2003 in the fourth game ever in program history and then a 104-101 (3OT) loss in the 2013 ASC tournament.

Melvin Anthony led the Patriots with 30 points, 15 rebounds and seven assists. He is only the second UT Tyler player in program history to have a 30/15 game with Hakeem Kareem being the first by going for 35/15 against Ozarks in 2009. Anthony’s career night now has him at 14.8 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. The win over the Cowboys was also saw season-bests from Verlo Levels who went for 24 points, Jordan Francis who had 18 points and seven rebounds and Josh Tatum who had 16 points and four assists – including five points in the waning moments of regulation to force overtime.

Francis is second on the team with 12.3 points and five rebounds per game, while Levels is averaging 11.6 points per game and has added 19 assists. The Patriots have now won four of their last five games entering the fifth week of the regular season.

The War Hawks are coming off a 67-55 loss to LeTourneau on Saturday in Longview and are now 1-1 on the road. McMurry has an 80-58 win over ETBU and a 63-51 victory over Louisiana College on its resume as it comes to Tyler for the first time since the Patriots earned a 74-56 overtime win back on Nov. 29, 2010. UT Tyler is 4-6 all-time against the War Hawks after earning a 95-66 win in Abilene last season.

UT Tyler will return to ASC play against LeTourneau on Monday, Dec. 19 in Longview.
