The UT Tyler volleyball team downed two NAIA opponents in Waxahachie, Texas on Saturday to win their first two matches of the 2005 season.
UT Tyler (2-0) defeated Southwest Assemblies of God, 30-25, 30-24, 28-30, 30-28, behind 14 kills from senior Amanda Gadison. Freshman Karlee Juett had 28 kills to lead UT Tyler defensively while junior Kelly Roberts had 33 assists.
Overall, UT Tyler had 62 kills, 128 digs and six service aces.
It game two, the Patriots downed St. Gregory's, 30-18, 30-17, 33-31. Sophomore Kristina Sivertson and junior Tara Haney each had eight kills while sophomore Kristen Akin had 25 assists. Freshman Jordan Jones led the way with 13 digs followed by 12 from Akin.
UT Tyler had 42 kills, 65 digs and five service aces in that match.
UT Tyler will next travel to Edmond, Okla. for matches against Dallas Baptist and Central Oklahoma on Tuesday. Both of those opponents are members of NCAA Division I
