The University of Texas at Tyler volleyball team earned its first American Southwest Conference win of the season and broke a three-game losing skid with a 3-0 win over LeTourneau in Longview on Thursday night. UT Tyler won 33-31, 30-20, 30-14.
With the win, UT Tyler improves to 4-8 on the season and 1-2 in the ASC.
Amanda Gadison led the offensive effort for the Patriots with 12 total kills followed by Kelly Roberts with eight. Kristen Akin had 21 passes for UT Tyler.
Libero Karlee Juett led all players with 18 digs and four service aces and was able to swing the momentum in favor of the Patriots every time she served.
LeTourneau (4-9, 0-4) opened the match with a strong first game taking a lead behind Jennifer McCool’s 10 consecutive service points. The Patriots battled back to eventually win the game 33-31. The final two games proved to be all UT Tyler.
UT Tyler returns to action Saturday with road matches against Mississippi College and Millsaps.
