Patriots senior Jessica Lightfoot was named American Southwest Conference All-Conference and First Team All-East Division, and four other volleyball players from The University of Texas at Tyler also received honors from the ASC.

Outside Hitter Lightfoot (SR/Scottsdale, AZ) led the Patriots in attacks and kills. She made the 2006 All-Conference Team, and also picks up her second straight All-Division honor.

“Jessica Lightfoot has just dominated for this team,” Patriots head coach Kristee Turpin said. “She’s really stepped up her game this season and become a go-to player. She put the ball down every chance she got, and really became a finesse player for us this year.”

The versatile Kelly Roberts (SR/Quitman, TX) was named to the ASC East Division Second Team as an Outside Hitter/Middle Blocker. She was an honorable mention last year as a setter.

“Kelly is just a jack-of-all-trades for us,” Turpin said. “She’s one of those players who says ‘I just want to play, I don’t care where,’ and she’s good at every position.”

Roberts will return next year as an assistant coach for the Patriots.

Three other Patriots received ASC East Division Honorable Mention awards, Libero Kellie Everett (JR/Arp, TX), setter Cidney Legg (JR/Arp, TX), and outside hitter Tara Haney (SR/Peaster, TX).

UT Tyler finished the season 12-18, 9-8 in the ASC, third place in the ASC East. The Patriots are concluding a four-year provisional period with the NCAA, but would have qualified for the playoffs if eligible.
