Vball Drops 3-0 Decision to Mary Hardin-Baylor

BELTON -- The UT Tyler volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to American Southwest Conference rival Mary Hardin-Baylor on Tuesday evening. Freshman Janel Cox had a stellar match, leading the Patriots with 11 kills, four digs and 17 assists in the losing effort.

UMHB (17-5, 10-4) came out firing in the first set, going on a 7-2 run while blasting 19 kills on its way to a 25-14 win.

The Patriots (11-13, 4-10) were unable to tie the match in the second set, falling 25-19 in a much closer second game.  UT Tyler finished with 11 kills in set two, with five errors.

In the deciding-set three, the Patriots jumped out to an early lead, that was extended to a 20-17 lead before the Cru fought-back, tying the game at 23-23, eventually winning 25-23 in the final set.

On the night, freshman Maci Lott totaled 10 kills and three digs, while teammate Mallory Roberts finished with 16 assists.

UT Tyler finished with 37 kills on the night to 51 for UMHB.  

The Patriots will now take-on LeTourneau at 1 p.m. on Saturday in Longview in the second-to-last ASC-match of the year.
