Volleyball Falls to Mary Hardin-Baylor, 3-0

TYLER -- The UT Tyler volleyball team lost in straight sets to Mary Hardin-Baylor on Tuesday night, dropping its season record to 6-6 overall and 1-3 in the American Southwest Conference.  Emily Wood finished with 17 digs, while teammate Breanna Brummett once again led all players in kills with 11.

After falling behind 2-0 in the match, UT Tyler fought hard in the third set to make things interesting.  With the score 19-16 in favor of the Cru, the Patriots rallied for three-straight points to tie the set at 19-19. 

UMHB (9-2, 2-1) then took a 23-21 lead, but the Patriots rallied again, tying the score at 24-24.  The Cru were able to withstand the rally, taking the third and final-set, 27-25.

In set one,  the Cru used a 9-3 run at the end of the game to win in convicning fashion, 25-15, finishing the set with 15 kills.

UMHB would start set two with the momentum, going up 5-0 before the Patriots were able to get on the board.  The five-points would be as close as UT Tyler would get in the second set, falling 25-13 to go down 2-0 in the match.

For the match, the Cru finished with a 41-28 advantage in kills, averaging a .264 attack percentage.

Sophomore Kayte Stein finished with six kills for the Patriots, while freshman Mallory Roberts totaled 15 assists.

The Patriots now head to Austin to take part in the ASC Crossover Challenge to take on conference opponents Hardin-Simmons, Schreiner and Concordia beginning at 2:30 on Friday afternoon.
