TYLER – The UT Tyler volleyball team will play No. 22-ranked UT Dallas at 7 p.m. on Tuesday in its final regular-season home match after honoring its lone senior, Brieanne Brown, prior to the matchup of American Southwest Conference East Division leaders at the Herrington Patriot Center.

The Patriots (17-6, 10-4 ASC) are 7-2 on its home court this season, while the Comets (18-4, 12-2 ASC) are 14-4 away from Richardson. UTD is 4-0 in Tyler this season after earning four-set wins over Texas Lutheran, Rhodes, Birmingham-Southern and Hendrix at the Dakotas Patriot Classic back in the second weekend of the season. The Patriots are two wins back of the Comets in the East Division standings after dropping contests against McMurry and Mary Hardin-Baylor last weekend in Abilene and will look to snap their two-match losing streak, while UTD has won seven straight coming into Tuesday’s match.

“Tuesday’s match against UTD will be an exciting match,” UT Tyler coach Lyndsay Mashe said. “They are always a good team and look forward to the challenge.  We need to be able to stop their middle attack and execute offensively to earn a win. Tuesday will be a special night as we will be celebrating Brieanne for senior night and we are also doing our Pink Out match for breast cancer awareness.”

A four-year player from Belton, Brown will be honored before the start of Tuesday’s match as the team’s only senior. Brown comes into the match with 876 career kills which ranks fifth all-time behind only Rachel Harvey (893), Breanna Brummett (894), Danika Waldrep (1,222) and Jessica Lightfoot (1,332). She led the Patriots last weekend in Abilene with 20 kills against UMHB after 15 kills against McMurry and 10 in a sweep of Sul Ross. She is second on the team with 201 kills this season behind only freshman Brianna Bellehumeur who has 205 kills through 23 matches.

Bellehumeur also has contributed 272 digs, 13 blocks and is tied for the team lead with 23 aces along with Reighanna Guzman, Madison Denning and Makenna Bartlett. Guzman, is a junior who is in her second season with the Patriots after transferring from ETBU, and is seventh all-time with 879 assists and currently ninth in the ASC this season. She has 471 assists this season and also has 176 digs. Denning has added 323 assists and 128 digs. Samantha Lee leads the team with 61 blocks and is third in UT Tyler history with 208 in her career. Lee, who is fourth in the ASC with a .333 attacking percentage, has also added 114 kills, while Haley Nemitz has 113 kills and Blair Dressendorfer and Kaitlyn Budisalovich have 106 kills each. At the net, Loren Guerra has 51 blocks to go along with 95 kills for the Patriots while Nemitz 48 blocks, Brown 44 and Kayla McCoy has provided 27 blocks and has 24 kills.

UT Tyler will be away from competition this weekend after its match against the Comets before playing its final ASC match of the season next Tuesday against ETBU (9-16, 5-7 ASC) in Marshall.
