TYLER – Kaitlyn Budisalovich had 11 kills and a .474 attacking percentage to help lead the UT Tyler volleyball team to a 25-21, 25-11, 25-12 win over LeTourneau on Wednesday and its third straight American Southwest Conference sweep at the Herrington Patriot Center.

The Patriots (16-4, 9-2 ASC) also swept the season series against the YellowJackets (6-15, 1-8 ASC) after taking the first meeting in straight sets in Longview in mid-September. UT Tyler improved to 7-2 on its home court with the win and has now swept 12 opponents through the first 20 matches of the season.

Budisalovich recorded double-digit kills for the third time this season and now has 85 kills on the season, while Brieanne Brown and Brianna Bellehumeur added nine kills each for the UT Tyler offensive attack. Brown added seven block assists in the match and hit .381 against the LeTourneau defense and Bellehumeur finished with 12 digs a day after being named the ASC East Division Defensive Player of the Week. Makenna Bartlett also had 12 digs to lead the team in the statistical category and Kayla McCoy and Madison Denning added five digs each.

Samantha Lee had eight kills (.462) and added four blocks for the Patriots and now leads the Patriots with 61 total blocks this season. UT Tyler owned the net with a 10-4 block advantage over the YellowJackets and also had a 52-39 dig advantage. The Patriots finished with an impressive .308 team attacking percentage, while LeTourneau was limited to a .010 percentage with 18 errors on 101 attempts.

UT Tyler will return to action this weekend with three matches in Abilene at the second ASC Crossover of the season which matches up East and West divisions at a central location. The Patriots will open the weekend with a 3 p.m. match against Sul Ross on the Hardin-Simmons University campus and then will drive across town to play McMurry at 8 p.m. in the War Hawks’ Kimbrell Arena. The weekend will wrap up against Mary Hardin-Baylor back at HSU with a 3 p.m. match before the Patriots return home to host UT Dallas next Tuesday in their final home match of the regular season.
