RICHARDSON – The UT Tyler volleyball team had its four-match winning streak end on Tuesday with a three-set loss to No. 20 UT Dallas in an American Southwest Conference contest at the UTD Activity Center.

The Patriots (13-3, 6-2 ASC) were coming off a week where they ran through East Texas Baptist, Howard Payne, Hardin-Simmons and Concordia in ASC play but were unable to take down the nationally-ranked Comets (12-4, 6-2 ASC) who were playing their home opener.

Brieanne Brown led the Patriots with 12 kills and with a .333 attacking percentage on the same day she was named the ASC Offensive Player of the Week for her production in last week’s matches. UT Tyler’s only senior, Brown now has 814 career kills which is the fifth most in the program’s history and is approaching Rachael Harvey and Breanna Brummett on the all-list with 893 and 894 kills, respectively. Brown has 139 of those kills this season which is second on the team behind Brianna Bellehumeur who had nine kills and 10 digs on Tuesday at UTD.

Kaitlyn Budisalovich added eight kills and three digs in the match, while Reighanna Guzman led the Patriots with 19 assists and 13 digs from the setter position. Makenna Bartlett, who was named the ASC Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday, had 11 digs and five assists. The Patriots finished with seven blocks, including three block assists each from Kayla McCoy, Loren Guerra, Brown and Budisalovich.

UT Tyler will take this weekend away from competition before returning to action next weekend with three home matches. The Patriots will host No. 5 Southwestern on Oct. 5, Belhaven on Oct. 6 and then Louisiana College on Oct. 7 at the Herrington Patriot Center.
