AWARDS: Brown, Bartlett earn ASC volleyball honors

EAST DIVISION OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Brieanne Brown, OH, Sr., UT Tyler
University of Texas at Tyler senior outside hitter Brieanne Brown (Belton, Texas / Belton HS) led the Patriots with 48 kills (3.43 per set) and hit .383 as they went 4-0 on the week. She also added eight blocks. Brown recorded a season-high 21 kills and hit .441 in a five-set victory against Howard Payne.

EAST DIVISION DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Makenna Bartlett, L, So., UT Tyler
UT Tyler sophomore libero Makenna Bartlett (Round Rock, Texas / Round Rock HS) led the Patriots with 79 digs (5.64 per set) as they went 4-0 on the week. She recorded 23 digs in the sweep of East Texas Baptist and had 21 in a three-set win against Concordia Texas.

WEST DIVISION OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Natasha Evans, S, Sr., Mary Hardin-Baylor
University Mary Hardin-Baylor senior setter Natasha Evans (Edna, Texas / Edna HS) led the Cru to four sweeps in ASC play. She averaged 11.83 assists per set with a high of 40 assists against McMurry. Evans came up with 30 or more assists in each match. She also had 10 kills, two aces, 35 digs and 13 blocks.

WEST DIVISION DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Sydney Dudney, L, So., Concordia Texas
Concordia University Texas sophomore libero Sydney Dudney (Austin, Texas / Austin HS) averaged 6.09 digs per set, racking up 67 over 11 sets as the Tornados went 2-2 on the week. She came up with 30 digs in a four-set victory against Belhaven.

OTHER TOP PERFORMANCES
Offensive
Hardin-Simmons University senior middle blocker Grace Schulz (Mansfield, Texas / Mansfield) had a big week as she hit .402 with 48 kills (3.43 per set) over four matches. She also added 22 blocks (1.57 per set) as the Cowgirls went 3-1 on the week. Schulz had a 16-kill, 10-block double-double in a win over East Texas Baptist.

University of Texas at Dallas senior middle blocker Emma Wallbrown (Cedar Park, Texas / Cedar Park HS) averaged 3.00 kills and 0.77 blocks per set while hitting .337 as the #16 Comets went 3-1 on the week. She had a high of 12 kills in Friday’s four-set victory over Sul Ross State.

Belhaven University junior outside hitter Lauren Whiting (Southaven, Miss. / Northpoint Christian HS) recorded 27 kills (1.59) per set with seven aces 64 digs (3.76 per set) and three blocks as the Blazers went 3-1 on the week.

Concordia Texas freshman setter Georgia Quiroz (Georgetown, Texas / Georgetown HS) averaged 7.92 assists per set as the Tornados went 2-2 on the week. She also hit .316 with seven kills and tallied 31 digs. Quiroz had a high of 44 assists in a four-set win over Belhaven.

Howard Payne University junior middle blocker Zhartezia Bradley (Austin, Texas / Connally HS) hit .243 with 3.34 kills per set, 1.21 digs and 0.93 blocks per set as the Lady Jackets went 2-2 on the week. She recorded 21 kills in the five set loss to UT Tyler.

Defensive
Mary Hardin-Baylor sophomore libero Haleigh Evans (Edna, Texas / Edna HS) led the Cru’s defense that limited opponents to just a .044 hitting percentage while going 4-0 on the week. She totaled 60 digs in 12 sets for a 5.00 per set average. Evans also recorded five assists and one ace.

Hardin-Simmons junior libero Leecia Depaula (Burleson, Texas / Burleson HS) led the Cowgirls with 64 digs (4.57 per set) as they went 3-1 on the week.

UT Dallas freshman middle blocker Alana Geymer (Cedar Park, Texas / Cedar Park HS) averaged 1.15 blocks and 1.77 kills per set as the #16 Comets posted a 3-1 record. She had a least three blocks in each match, including five in a loss to Mary Hardin-Baylor.

Howard Payne freshman libero Jordan Livingston (Helotes, Texas / Brandeis HS) tallied 63 digs (4.50 per set) as the Lady Jackets went 2-2 on the week. She recorded a high of 26 digs in a five-set loss to UT Tyler.
