LONGVIEW – Samantha Lee and Brianna Bellehumeur each had nine kills and Brieanne Brown added eight more as the UT Tyler volleyball team earned a sweep over Hardin-Simmons in its first of two matches on Saturday at the American Southwest Conference Crossover.

The Patriots (12-2, 5-1 ASC) secured their eighth sweep of the season with the 25-17, 26-24, 25-20 win over the Cowgirls (6-10, 3-2 ASC). UTT will now play Concordia at 5:30 p.m. in its final match of the weekend before traveling to Richardson on Tuesday to play UT Dallas.

Reighanna Guzman had 22 assists and Madison Denning contributed 14 more in the three-set win from the setter position, while Makenna Bartlett had a team-leading 22 digs and Emily Robison added 10 more. Bellehumeur had 12 digs to go along with her nine kills and Loren Guerra led the team with five blocks.

UT Tyler is now 2-0 against HSU this season after opening the season with a five-set win over the Cowgirls at the UMHB tournament.
