JACKSON, Miss. – The UT Tyler volleyball team had a three-match winning streak end with a five-set American Southwest Conference loss at Belhaven on Saturday at the Rugg Arena.

The Patriots (9-2, 2-1 ASC) began conference play this week with sweeps of LeTourneau and Louisiana College, but couldn’t pull off the three-match road trip sweep to begin ASC play as the Blazers (5-5) took the match 25-19, 15-25, 25-23, 18-25, 15-13.

Brianna Bellehumeur led the Patriots with 14 kills and 12 digs, while Brieanne Brown had 12 kills and one ace. Only a freshman, Bellehumeur already has five matches this season with double digit kill and dig performances and her 14 kills were only two behind her season-best of 16 against Susquehanna.

Blair Dressendorfer added nine kills and four digs and Loren Guerra contributed eight kills on 14 attempts. Reighanna Guzman led the offense with 29 assists and added 14 digs, while Makenna Bartlett led the team with 18 digs and also had five assists from the libero position. The Patriots finished the match with a .218 attacking percentage, but with only two blocks on defense.

UT Tyler, which is now 2-1 in five-set matches, will return to action at 7 p.m. on Tuesday against East Texas Baptist at the Herrington Patriot Center.
