RICHARDSON --The UT Tyler volleyball team knocked-off tournament host and top-seeded Texas-Dallas, 3-2, on Friday night to advance to the semifinals of the 2011 American Southwest Conference Volleyball Championship Tournament at the UTD Activity Center.

The Patriots (21-11) will now face McMurry, the West Division's No. 1 seed, Saturday at Noon.

UT Tyler used the momentum from their 3-1 win over Mary Hardin-Baylor earlier Friday, which was the Patriots' first-ever ASC postseason victory. 

In the 25-9, 22-25, 25-20, 25-22 win that eliminated Mary Hardin-Baylor from the tournament, Madison Kosir had a game-high 19 kills for UT Tyler, followed by 15 from Breanna Brummett. Emily Wood provided 23 digs and Ashten Waldrep chipped-in 29 assists. 

Friday night, though, the Patriots' lone senior, Danika Waldrep, controlled the offense and defense with 19 kills and 18 digs to lead UT Tyler to its first win over UT Dallas since the 2004 season. She also put down three service aces.

The Patriots took a 2-0 lead in the match, before dropping the next two sets to force the decisive fifth set where they  a 16-14 win after being down 8-5. 

Brummett added 14 kills and Stacey Wilson had 12 more. Ashten Waldrep and Kosir combined for 59 assists. 

The winner of the Noon match will play Hardin-Simmons for the league title.
