TYLER – The UT Tyler volleyball team will start a four-match home stand this week with contests on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Herrington Patriot Center.

The Patriots (13-3, 6-2 ASC) open the home stand with a 6:30 p.m. non-conference match against No. 5-ranked Southwestern (17-3, 5-2, SCAC) on Thursday and then return to conference play at 7 p.m. on Friday against Belhaven (11-7, 6-2 ASC) and at 2 p.m. on Saturday against Louisiana College (0-13, 0-8 ASC). The home stand will be completed with a 7 p.m. match next Wednesday against LeTourneau.

UT Tyler is in the middle of one of its best seasons in program history and is currently 4-1 on its home court. The Patriots are led by head coach Lyndsay Mashe who has guided the program to a 31-12 record in her two seasons. The team earned a 25-12, 25-19, 25-8 win over LC in their first meeting of the season and then dropped a five-set decision (19-25, 25-15, 23-25, 25-18, 13-15) against the Blazers in mid-September in Jackson, Mississippi.

Brianna Bellehumeur and Brieanne Brown are leading the offensive attack for the Patriots, while Makenna Bartlett, Loren Guerra and Samantha Lee are challenging the opposition with strong defensive work. Reighanna Guzman and Madison Denning are orchestrating the offense from the setter position with Guzman leading the team with 331 assists and Denning at 218 assists. Bellehumeur, a freshman from Frisco, tops UT Tyler with 144 kills and has also added 183 digs. She has recorded six double-doubles, including a season-best with 21 digs in a match against Hardin-Simmons to begin the season and then a 16-kill performance against Susquehanna where she also had 12 digs. Bellehumeur has recorded six straight double-figure dig performances and has had nine kills in the past three matches against HSU, Concordia and UT Dallas.

Brown is the team’s lone senior and is coming off a 12-kill match against the Comets where she had a .333 attacking percentage. A left-handed hitter, she has six double-digit kill performances this season and 139 total kills. She is fifth all-time in program history with 814 kills in her career. Blair Dressendorfer is third on the team with 106 kills, while Lee has 88 and Guerra 81. Guerra and Lee are currently tied with 47 blocks each (0.82 per set) and Haley Nemitz has added 34 blocks for the defense which has also been bolstered by Emily Robison who has 111 digs. Nemitz has also added 79 kills, while sophomore Kaitlyn Budisalovich has 36 kills with 23 of those coming in the past three matches.

UT Tyler’s offense has a .223 attacking percentage, while the defense has limited the opposition to a .122 attack.
