TYLER – Kaylee Prather was selected by the E1 Pro Ballers with the 43rd pick of the ASBA Pro Softball Draft on Wednesday night.

“I am super excited and thankful to lace it up again,” Prather said. “I was not expecting to play again and especially not such a high level. This is truly a dream come true. I couldn’t be more thankful for everyone that was a part of this journey that made this possible. From my little leagues coaches to my all my awesome college coaches, family and friends this wasn’t possible without them. I am so excited and blessed for the opportunity and am determined to make the best of it.”

A NFCA All-American during her playing career at UT Tyler, Prather completed her collegiate softball career in 2017 before competing for the Patriot Track & Field program this year where she qualified for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships in the long jump. This season will be the inaugural campaign for the ASBA league which has four teams that completed a draft on twitter.

Prather helped lead the Patriots to the 2016 NCAA DIII Softball National Championship as a junior and then established multiple single-season records for the Patriots during the 2017 season, including hitting .500 and having 89 total hits. A center fielder from Elysian Fields, Prather had 12 doubles, six triples, two home runs and 69 singles as the team’s leadoff hitter. She earned NFCA First-Team All-America and was named the American Southwest Conference Player of the Year as a senior. She stole 38 bases in the 2017 season and had 75 in her two years at UT Tyler where she had 160 career hits in only 16 games.

The E1 Pro Ballers are scheduled to play their first game on June 15 against Future 1s in Satsuma, Alabama. The league will play through July with a championship series set for the final week of the month at Satsuma High School.
