AWARD: Bentke earns ASC Pitcher of the Week

PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Colleen Bentke, RHP, Jr., UT Tyler

UT Tyler junior left-hander Colleen Bentke (Brenham, Texas) was dominant last week where she went 3-0 with 15 strikeouts and a 0.00 ERA. Bentke earned a midweek win over Centenary and then rolled through Sul Ross State with wins in the opener and then the finale. She limited opponents to a .127 average for the week and walked only two.

HITTER OF THE WEEK – Mackenzie Anderson, 3B, Jr., East Texas Baptist
East Texas Baptist University junior third baseman Mackenzie Anderson (Hawley, Texas) helped the Tigers sweep UT Dallas and stay perfect in the ASC by hitting three home runs in the series, including a pair in Friday’s game one 13-12 win. In game one, she went 4-of-6 with four runs scored and three RBI. Anderson followed that in game two with a 2-of-4 showing with three batted in, a home run and run scored. For the week she hit .583 (7-of-12) with six RBI, 16 total bases and seven runs.
Howard Payne University junior outfielder/pitcher Audrey Simpson (Cuero, Texas) hit .571 (4-for-7) in a three-game series against Ozarks. With a 1.143 slugging percentage, she had a double, a home run, eight total bases and two RBI.

University of the Ozarks freshman outfielder Kieara Bryant (Pea Ridge, Ark.) had a .500 (6-for-12) batting average with a grand slam while posting a .916 slugging percentage during the week. Bryant produced 14 runs through nine RBI and five runs scored over the five-game stretch.

University of Texas at Dallas junior second baseman Melissa Livermore (Frisco, Texas) was an impressive 16-for-23 (.696) from the plate as the Comets played two ASC home series last week. Early in the week, Livermore was 6-for-11 with three runs scored and five stolen bases as the Comets took the series against Louisiana College 2-1. She was then 10-for-12 with seven runs scored and six steals in three losses against No. 14 East Texas Baptist. On the season, Livermore is now 16-for-18 in stolen base attempts and just five swipes shy of the ASC career record.
UT Tyler junior infielder Nicole Garcia (Sugar Land, Texas) continued her impressive season by going 8-for-13 (.615) with two doubles and seven runs scored as she helped lead the Patriots to a 4-0 week with a non-conference win over Centenary and then a three-game sweep of Sul Ross State.

LeTourneau University senior first baseman Kelsi Coleman (Mesquite, Texas) hit .625 (5-for-8) with three doubles and three runs scored in the YellowJacket’s three-game series against Louisiana College.

Belhaven University sophomore outfielder Marlee Blackwell (Louin, Miss.) hit .500 (7-14) with a double, eight RBI, 12 total bases and five runs scored as the Blazers swept Austin College in a double-header and won all three games in conference play against Hardin-Simmons.

Louisiana College sophomore shortstop Taylor Hammock (Vivian, La.) hit .471 (7-for-17) with four doubles, four RBI, two runs scored and a .706 slugging percentage as the Wildcats went 3-3 on the week.

University of Mary Hardin-Baylor sophomore outfielder Linsey Tomlinson (Huffman, Texas) led the Cru to five wins on the week with a midweek sweep of Trinity and a conference sweep of McMurry. She batted .364 (4-for-11) on the week, slamming three home runs and driving in six RBI. Tomlinson scored game-winning runs in two contests and had a slugging percentage of 1.182 in five games

Ozarks junior right-handed pitcher Abby Mork (Aurora, Colo.) tossed 13.1 innings posting a 0.00 ERA during the week. Mork had a 1-1 record, fanned six and walked just two over three appearances. She threw a complete game shutout in game one of the Eagles' series against Howard Payne to set the tone for a three-game sweep. She struck out three and issued just one walk in that game.

LeTourneau junior right-hander Faith Genoway (Lake Jackson, Texas) earned the YellowJackets’ only win of the weekend, tossing a complete game against Louisiana College in game two of Friday night's doubleheader and striking out 10. 

East Texas Baptist senior right Jordan Anderson (Hawley, Texas) had a big part in the sweep of UT Dallas, with a win and a save. In game two, she struck out 14 batters in a 7-4 win and only gave up one extra base hit. She came in relief in game three when it was 4-3 in favor of the Tigers and held the Comets hitless over the next 2.2 innings with 4 strikeouts to earn the save.

Belhaven senior righty Jordan Herring (Forest, Miss.) went 3-0 with a 2.69 ERA and 14 strikeouts over 17 innings.

Louisiana College senior right-handed pitcher Savannah Settle (Natchitoches, La.) went 2-1 with 20 strikeouts and a 3.00 ERA over four starts and 27 innings for the Wildcats.

Mary Hardin-Baylor sophomore right-hander Hannah Halepaska (Orange Grove, Texas) earned three wins in the circle for the Cru, pitching 15.2 innings. She threw 14.2 shutout innings and gave up just two runs in three contests. Halepaska threw a complete game shutout against Trinity, allowing just three hits. She followed that with a pair of wins over McMurry, combining for 8.2 innings with just two runs allowed. She recorded five strikeouts and did not walk a single batter in all 15.2 innings.
