TYLER - The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) has announced that a record 7,365 softball players across seven membership divisions earned NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors for the 2016-17 academic year.

UT Tyler had 14 players honored with the recognition including, Kaylee Prather, KK Stevens, Alaina Kissinger, Hannah Moore, Kursten Jaime, Hallee Carter, Abby Hall, Whitney Romero, Jewel Moody, Alyssa Henry, Courtney Fisher, Andrea Gonzales, Ryata Daniel and Miranda Leal.

The Patriots went 46-6 in the 2017 season and advanced to its third straight NCAA Division III National Championship. UT Tyler won the regular-season American Southwest Conference Championship and then won the Tyler Regional and Super Regional on its way to Oklahoma City.

NCAA Division I led the way with 1,843 student-athletes earning a 3.5 grade-point average or higher, while 1,825 in Division III garnered recognition followed by 1,267 Division II student-athletes. High School weighted and High School unweighted posted 751 and 624 honorees apiece. NAIA amassed 559 recipients and Junior College totaled 496.
