@Patriot_sb trio earn FPN All-American honors

TYLER – UT Tyler seniors KK Stevens and Kaylee Prather have been named Fast Pitch News Second-Team Offensive All-Americans and sophomore Cheyenne Thompson earned FPN Honorable Mention selection after leading the Patriots to third place nationally in the program’s third straight trip to the NCAA Division III Softball Championship.


Prather and Thompson also earned NFCA All-America honors last week prior to the start of the national tournament. FPN award St. John Fisher’s Lindsey Thayer as its Pitcher of the Year and Lauren Vallee (Bay Path University) as the FPN Offensive Player of the Year.

A four-year starter for UT Tyler, Stevens had her most productive season in her final year. Stevens hit a career-best 14 home runs and drove in 52 runs as a senior and also had a .378 batting average. A Plano native, she caught 208 games in her career and finished with 206 total hits, 32 home runs and 160 RBI. At catcher, she made only three errors with 1,039 putouts and 43 assists.

Prather established multiple single-season records for the Patriots this season, including hitting .500 and having 89 total hits. A center fielder from Elysian Fields, Prather had 12 doubles, six triples, two home runs and 69 singles as the team’s leadoff hitter. She earned NFCA First-Team All-America and was named the American Southwest Conference Player of the Year. She stole 38 bases this year and 75 in her two years at UT Tyler where she had 160 career hits in only 16 games.

Thompson had a sensational sophomore season where she completed the year with a .423 batting average and led the team with 58 RBI. A right fielder from Mexia, Thompson earned NFCA Third-Team All-America honors last week and along with Prather were named to the NCAA DIII Softball Championship All-Tournament Team. She finished her second season in Tyler with nine home runs, 18 doubles and two triples. Thompson is now hitting .417 with 105 total hits (24 doubles, four triples, 11 home runs) and has 81 RBI in 97 games for the Patriots.
