The five Patriots who earned all-region selection have helped the team to a 42-4 record coming into the Tyler, Texas Super Regional where the team will host East Texas Baptist starting at 4 p.m. on Friday before the two teams play again at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Suddenlink Field. An if-necessary game would follow if the teams split to decide who advances to the NCAA DIII National Championship in Oklahoma City.

    The No. 4 ranked UT Tyler softball team will host No. 5 Texas Lutheran and La Verne in a three-team NCAA Division III Tyler, Texas Regional this weekend at Suddenlink Field. The double-elimination tournament begins with the Patriots (39-4) playing the Leopards (31-12) at 1 p.m. on Friday before La Verne and TLU (37-4) play at 4 p.m. in the final game of the first day. UTT and TLU will play at 2 p.m. on Saturday to complete the round-robin portion before results dictate the schedule scenarios of the double-elimination tournament.

    Regular-season champion University of Texas at Tyler will host the 2017 American Southwest Conference Softball Championship Tournament April 27-29 at Suddenlink Field in Tyler. Joining top-seed UT Tyler (37-2) in the six-team field is No. 2 seed East Texas Baptist (33-6), No. 3 seed UT Dallas (32-8) and No. 4 seed Mary Hardin-Baylor (26-14). Louisiana College (24-15) is seeded fifth and Concordia Texas (19-21) is the No. 6 seed.

    The No. 2-ranked UT Tyler softball team won its fourth straight regular-season title and will host the American Southwest Conference Softball Championship from Thursday through Sunday at Suddenlink Field. The Patriots are the top seed in the six-team, double-elimination tournament and will play at 7 p.m. on Thursday against the winner of the Louisiana College and Mary Hardin-Baylor 1 p.m. game. The tournament begins with Concordia and UT Dallas playing at 10 a.m. and that winner to play again at 4 p.m. against East Texas Baptist.

    Jon and Krista Burkhardt had the winning bid.  The Burkhardt family will receive the 2016 softball national championship autographed jersey. Jon is the father of Emilee Burkhardt.  Emilee played in 37 games last year.  She helped the Patriots make history.  Now she will have a piece of that history.

    AWARD: Kissinger earns ASC Pitcher of the Week

    Alaina Kissinger threw 10 scoreless innings and earned two wins for UT Tyler in its sweep of Ozarks last weekend. Kissinger started the series with a complete-game shutout on Friday and then threw five scoreless frames in the finale. The senior Kissinger finished with 11 strikeouts and gave up one walk. Kissinger enters the week with a 17-0 record.

    The No. 1 UT Tyler Patriots took both games of the Saturday doubleheader against the Belhaven Blazers to sweep the three-game series at Suddenlink Field. The Patriots won the games 8-0, 5-1, respectively to take their winning streak to eight to start the season.

    The No. 1-ranked UT Tyler softball team returns to action this weekend with a three-game set against Belhaven at Suddenlink Field. The Patriots (5-0) are coming off a three-game sweep of Hardin-Simmons to open American Southwest Conference play, while the Blazers have opened their season with three losses to No. 5-ranked East Texas Baptist and a shutout loss to Millsaps. Belhaven was the only team to beat the Patriots in the regular season last year after taking two of three from UT Tyler in Jackson, Mississippi last February.

    Thompson earns FPN NCAA DIII National Player of the Week

    Cheyenne Thompson started her sophomore season in style by going 5-for-6 with a home run and six RBI for the Patriots who opened the season with a pair of shutout wins last Friday against Pacific and Centenary. Thompson went 4-for-4 with four RBI in the 8-0 win over Centenary, including a two-run home run and three singles. She would finish the two games 2-for-2 on stolen bases and also walked once. Thompson hit .403 with 23 RBI and two home runs as a freshman for the Patriots.

    The No. 1-ranked UT Tyler softball team will open its 2017 season on Friday with a pair of non-conference games against Pacific University and Centenary at Suddenlink Field. The Patriots are the defending NCAA Division III National Champions who went 49-5 overall, 29-0 in American Southwest Conference play and were 22-2 on their home field. UT Tyler plays its first game at 3 p.m. against the Boxers of Pacific University before taking on the Ladies of Centenary at 5 p.m. in its first games since dogpiling after a 2-0 win over Linfield on May 21, 2016 to celebrate winning the Tyler Super Regional.
