TYLER – The No. 2-ranked UT Tyler softball team is on a 15-game winning streak and has outscored its opponents by a 50-0 margin over the past six games entering a three-game American Southwest Conference series at Louisiana College on Thursday and Friday in Pineville, Louisiana.

The Patriots (31-2, 22-2 ASC) would secure the ASC regular-season championship with a sweep of the Wildcats (24-9, 18-6 ASC) who are on a five-game losing streak entering the series. The three-game series begins at 6 p.m. on Thursday before a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Friday at Wildcat Park.

KK Stevens enters the series with 189 career hits which is sixth all-time and only 11 from the 200-hit milestone. A senior catcher from Plano, Stevens is hitting .402 with a team-leading nine home runs, 10 doubles and 36 RBI. Her career at UT Tyler includes 27 home runs, 44 doubles and 144 RBI in 187 starts. She is currently sixth in the nation in home runs and 21st in RBI. Kaylee Prather is on a 16-game hitting streak and is the only Patriot to have reached base in all 33 games. A senior in her second season at UT Tyler, Prather broke the all-time stolen base record in program history last weekend and is currently second in the nation with 62 hits this season. An Elysian Fields native, Prather is hitting .534 with nine doubles, four triples and two home runs as the UT Tyler leadoff hitter. She is also 25-for-26 in stolen bases this season and has the record with 62 in her career. In only 87 games at UT Tyler, Prather already has 133 hits.

Cheyenne Thompson is hitting .450 this season with 15 doubles, a triple and six home runs. She leads the team with 37 RBI which is the 15th most in the nation entering this week. She also has 10 stolen bases this season. The Patriots are second in the nation with .419 batting average with Andrea Gonzales (.452), Lexi Ackroyd (.427), Courtney Fisher (.426), Mel Hinojosa (.416), Bianca Van Vlerah (.386) and Hannah Moore (.328) each providing consistent production for the Patriots. Gonzales has produced 11 doubles and 28 RBI in her first season as the team’s first baseman, while Ackroyd has 131 career hits and 94 RBI as a four-year player at UT Tyler. Alyssa Henry has also provided a spark the last couple of weeks and is 8-for-13 at the plate.

In the pitcher’s circle, UT Tyler is led by senior Alaina Kissinger (17-0) and freshman Whitney Romero (11-1). Kissinger is 61-2 in her career at UT Tyler with 361 strikeouts, while Romero has struck out 60 and is coming off the first no-hitter of her career last weekend against Ozarks. Kissinger was named the ASC Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday after earning two more wins over Ozarks and enters this week with 73 strikeouts.

LC is coming off getting swept by ETBU last weekend in Marshall after dropping two of three to UMHB. The Wildcats are 11-5 at home this season coming into the Thursday/Friday series with the Patriots.
