Whitney Wyly

Whitney Wyly enters her sixth season on the UT Tyler softball staff after helping to lead the Patriots to the 2016 NCAA Division III National Championship. Wyly also serves as UT Tyler's compliance director.

An All-America player at UT Tyler, Wyly has helped coach the Patriots to four NCAA Division III World Series appearances including the 2016 title and to a 50-5 overall record and a national runner-up finish in 2015. Wyly and the Patriots were the NCAA DIII national runner-ups after securing a NCAA DIII West Region Championship, American Southwest Conference tournament championship and the ASC regular-season title in 2015. Along with her responsibilities as recruiting coordinator, she is also responsible for working with outfielders and assisting with hitting instruction.

In 2014, Wyly helped lead the Patriots to the American Southwest Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championship, the third in program history. UT Tyler was ranked as high as No. 1 by the NFCA in 2014, finishing the year with a 41-6 overall record and a No. 8 ranking in the national poll.

Wyly helped a young Patriots' squad to a .352 team average, which ranked first in the ASC, while slapper Lauren Robenalt garnered First Team All-American honors.

The 2013 season was a special season for Wyly and the Patriots, reaching the NCAA DIII World Series for the third time in program history, finishing in fourth-place.  One of the reasons the team was so successful was the offense that Wyly helped lead.  The Patriots finished 12th in the nation in team batting average (.352), 13th in runs per game with 7.17 and sixth in slugging percentage (.525).  Wyly also helped coach two first team All-American position players, Heather Abshire and Joey Cronin.

In 2012, Wyly helped the Patriots reach the NCAA Regional tournament, finishing as the regional runner-up and helping the team finish with a conference-leading .346 team batting average.

Wyly also played three seasons for Coach Reed and the Patriots' softball program after transferring from The University of Texas at San Antonio. While at UTSA, Wyly finished fourth on the team in homeruns (5), while starting 34 games for the Roadrunners as a true freshman.

Wyly is one of the most decorated players in the history of the UT Tyler program.  In her three seasons at UT Tyler, she compiled a career batting average of .375 while slugging 40 home runs and collecting 193 RBI's.

She ranks first in several categories in the UT Tyler softball record books- home runs (40), RBI's (193), sacrifice flies (14), double plays turned (21) and second all-time in total bases (355).  She also ranks in the top-five all-time in slugging percentage (.711), games started (148), at-bats (499) and runs scored with 121.

She received All-American honors in 2009 and 2010, while helping the Patriots to NCAA tournament appearances in both seasons.

Wyly also played on the 2009 and 2011 squads that made the NCAA D3 Women's College World Series.

Her and her husband, Vance, currently live in Whitehouse.
