RICHARDSON -- UT Tyler men's basketball player Darren Houliston has been named the American Southwest Conference East Division Co-Player of the Week. Houliston averaged 20 points and 10.5 rebounds per game, helping the Patriots remain undefeated in conference-play.
Houliston, a senior forward from Euless, Texas averaged helped guide UT Tyler to a pair of victories, including a dramatic 73-72 conference home win over Hardin-Simmons.
In that game, Houliston poured in a game-high 30 points. His layup – off his own steal – with 1:14 to play gave the Patriots a 70-68 lead before Travis Dykman eventually hit a game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer.
Houliston, who also had a double double against Jarvis Christian, added three steals, two blocks and two assists on the week, shares the honors with Texas Dallas forward Kyle Schleigh, who has now won the award two weeks in-a-row.
