RICHARDSON -- UT Tyler men's basketball player Jordan Cannon has been named the American Southwest Conference East Division Player of the Week. Cannon helped the Patriots start the season 2-0 for the first time since the 2009-2010 season.
Cannon, a junior transfer from Las Vegas had
19 points, nine rebounds and four assists to help fuel a
conference-opening road win over Howard Payne. Cannon, who added one
block and committed only one turnover in 29 minutes, was 5 of 8 shooting
from 3-point range. His point and rebound totals were both game-highs.
The men will be on the road this week with a showdown against Schreiner at 7:30 pm on Thursday and Texas Lutheran at 3:00 pm on Saturday, December 1.
