TYLER -- Cristy O’Bannon, formerly the head volleyball coach at All
Saints Episcopal School in Tyler, has joined the UT Tyler volleyball staff as the
Patriots’ full-time assistant coach, head coach Suzanne Truitt has announced.
O’Bannon is the winningest coach in All Saints history, with
a combined record of 207-85 since becoming the Trojans’ head coach in
2003. Her teams advanced to the playoffs
each season and were state runners-up in 2006, 2007 and 2008. In 2008, she was named All-East Texas
Co-Coach of the Year by the Tyler Morning Telegraph after her team completed a
34-5 season.
“I'm tremendously excited to have a coach of Cristy's
caliber joining the program here at UT Tyler,” Truitt said. “I really look forward to working with her and
she will be a great asset to our players and the University.”
O’Bannon was selected to coach the Texas Association of
Private and Parochial Schools all-star volleyball game three times.
She has also served six seasons as the Trojans’ head girls
track and field coach.
She is a member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association,
the Texas Girls Coaches Association, the Texas Private School Coaches
Association and the Texas Track & Field Coaches Association.
O’Bannon is a 1995 graduate of UT Tyler.
