Wood, a sophomore, was named the 2012 American Southwest Conference East Division Defensive Player of the Year on Monday. After helping the Patriots to a program-best 21 wins last season, Wood is one of six returning sophomores, helping UT Tyler get the nod as the Second-place preseason pick in the ASC east.
Wood finished last season with 6.27 digs per match, leading the conference by more than one-full dig per match.
The sophomore from Waller, Texas is a Biology major.
