STARKVILLE, Miss. -- After a successful season that saw the UT Tyler softball team put together a 39-9 season record, five players were selected to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All Region team. Katelyn Thomason, Joey Cronin and Heather Abshire were named to the First-Team, while teammates Ashley Endsley and Taylor Petrick garnered Second-Team honors.
Thomason, a senior from Spring, Texas, batted .423 with four homeruns, 63 total hits, 10 doubles, three triples and 43 RBI. The American Southwest Conference East Division Player of the Year also had a great season in the circle, going 13-4 with a 2.00 ERA, including one no-hitter.
Cronin, a junior from Celina, Texas was named to the NFCA All-Region Team for the second time in her career, batting .392, with four homeruns, and a team-leading 46 runs scored.
Rounding out the First-Team nominations for the Patriots was Abshire, who had a stellar season in the circle, going 22-3 with a 1.41 ERA, 21 complete games and 62 strikeouts. In 153.2 innings, Abshire only walked 31 batters, and registered seven shutouts. At the plate, she batted .396, totaling 53 hits and 34 RBI.
Endsley, a junior from Paris, Texas enjoyed a successful first-season with the Patriots. Endsley led the ASC in homeruns, belting 10 on the year, while batting .406 with 50 RBI.
Petrick was named to the Second-Team as a utility player, spending time in the outfield and second-base for UT Tyler this season. She finished fifth on the team with a .386 batting average, two homeruns, two triples and five doubles.
UT Tyler ended its season in the NCAA Softball Tyler Regional, falling 4-0 to Pacific Lutheran.
