RECAP: Hicken in fourth at A&M-Commerce tournament

POTTSBORO – UT Tyler’s Katelyn Hicken is in fourth place after shooting an open-round 80 at the Lion Invitational on Monday at the Tanglewood Resort.

The Patriots are in fifth at the tournament with a team score of 352 going into Tuesday’s final round of the tournament which is being hosted by Texas A&M-Commerce. UT Tyler is only five shots behind the Lions who are in fourth with a 347 score, while Angelo State holds the first-round lead after carding a 321 on Monday.

Hicken, who leads UTT with a 79.83 scoring average this season, made two birdies and seven pars in her round. She is coming off a 14th-place finish at the Houston-Victoria Claud Jacobs Invitational two weeks ago to start the spring season and is five strokes off the leaders, Mathilde Bertuol (TJC) and Kiana Oshiro (WTCC), who share the first-round lead after posting 75s. ASU’s Methilde Revilliod is one spot ahead of Hicken after shooting a 76.

UT Tyler senior Stephanie Tutt is 14th overall at the tournament after carding an 85, while Stevie Clewett is 29th (93) and Taylor Denton shot a 94 and is 30th. Freshman Hannah Washburn shot a 97 and is tied for 33rd.

UT Tyler will be paired with A&M-Commerce and Ranger College with an 8 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday.
