RECAP: @UTTylerWGolf in 2nd at UHV event

VICTORIA – The UT Tyler women’s golf team is currently tied in second place of the Claud Jacobs Collegiate in Victoria after the first day of tournament play. The two-day tournament is hosted by the University of Houston-Victoria and being played at The Club at Colony Creek.

The Patriots shot a team total of 313 and are tied with Western Texas CC in second place. Texas Wesleyan University is the leader after the first round of play in a two-round tournament. Other teams playing in the tournament include Northwestern OK St., St. Thomas, Schreiner, Tyler JC, Wayland Baptist, Ranger CC, Texas A&M-International, and Southwestern.

The Patriots have five players competing for team competition and Stevie Clewett is competing as an individual. Stephanie Tutt, Taylor Denton, and Amy Cox all had rounds of 78 (+6) on Sunday, with Katelyn Hicken (+7) and Hannah Washburn (+9) rounding the team out closely behind. The second and final round of the tournament will take place tomorrow, February 19th

Tutt, Denton, and Cox are all currently sitting in 13th place overall, with Hicken in 19th and Washburn in 27th. Stevie Clewett shot an 89 in the individual competition and sits in 51st.

Alex Schies of Texas Wesleyan leads the tournament after a first round of 70 (-2). Kiana Oshiro of Western Texas CC shot a 72 (E) to put her in second and Trudy Allen of Texas Wesleyan shot a 73 (+1) and sits in third.
