TYLER – A Skyler Hadden layup gave UT Tyler a one-point lead with three minutes to play but LeTourneau would close the game on a 15-7 run and take a 93-86 win over the Patriots on Thursday in an American Southwest Conference East Division game at the Herrington Patriot Center.

The Patriots (13-7, 6-7 ASC) have now lost three games in a row for the only time this season after also losing 101-78 at LeTourneau (17-3, 11-2 ASC) last Saturday. The YellowJackets finished the game 27-for-32 at the free-throw line, while UT Tyler was 13-for-20 at the line but owned a 60-34 scoring advantage in the paint.

Emeka Obukwelu led UT Tyler with 33 points and 11 rebounds for his ninth double-double of the season, while Josh Tatum matched a season-high with 11 assists and also had 10 points for his second double-double. Obukwelu now has three 30-plus point performances this season after he went 15-for-26 from the field against the YellowJackets. Hadden would add 24 points and four rebounds, including going 6-for-7 at the free-throw line and 9-for-13 from the field.

UT Tyler finished the game shooting 48.6 percent from the field, but struggled with 3-pointers by going 3-for-19 from beyond the arc. The Patriots were 0-for-10 on 3-pointers in the second half, while LeTourneau hit eight 3s in the game.

LeTourneau had five players score in double figures, led by Nate West who went for 20 points and nine rebounds while Christian Seidl recorded a double-double with 19 points and 15 rebounds.

UT Tyler led 39-34 at halftime with Hadden leading the Patriots with 10 points and three rebounds, while Obukwelu had eight points and four rebounds. Tatum would go into the break with seven points and six assists for the Patriots who were shooting 48.5 percent from the field 33 percent on 3-pointers. Lane led the team at the break with two 3-pointers.

UT Tyler will return to action at 4 p.m. on Saturday against East Texas Baptist at the HPC and will also host Ozarks on Monday and UT Dallas on Saturday, Feb. 10 to complete its home schedule for the regular season. ETBU (17-3, 11-2 ASC) will be coming off a 93-78 win over Ozarks on Thursday in Arkansas.
