TYLER – The UT Tyler women’s basketball team will return to action this week with a pair of American Southwest Conference East Division road games against East Texas Baptist on Thursday and LeTourneau on Saturday.

The Patriots (10-7, 6-4 ASC) had a three-game winning streak snapped in last week’s lone game at UT Dallas and will look to get back in the win column when they play ETBU (15-2, 9-1 ASC) at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Ornelas Gym. The Tigers lead the ASC and are on a three-game winning streak after knocking off Louisiana College and Belhaven in a pair of road games and are currently 6-2 on their home court. UT Tyler will then play at LeTourneau at 2 p.m. on Saturday in Longview against the YellowJackets who are 3-14 and 0-10 in conference play.

UT Tyler is 3-3 on the road in ASC play and leads the ASC with a 11.6 scoring margin of victory, 132 3-pointers made and 21.94 turnovers forced per game. The Patriots are shooting 41.2 percent from the field, including going 31.4 percent on 3-pointers.

Alex Kochner leads the Patriots with 11.2 points and 8.1 rebounds per game in her senior season, while Carissa Spiker, Brittany Johnson and Demi Cumby are each averaging 10 points per game. Kochner has recorded three double-doubles this season, including career-highs with 29 points and 14 rebounds in a win over Whitworth back in December. She scored eight points last Thursday at UTD, while Spiker went for 10 points and four rebounds in the loss to the Comets. Spiker is at 10.7 points and 4.7 rebounds per game in her sophomore season, including a season-high 20 points in a win over Jarvis Christian and 19 points in a win at Hardin-Simmons.

Samantha Odom and Alexus Bertrand are both averaging seven points per game, while Bertrand leads the team with 3.6 assists per game. She has nine games with four assists or more this season, including seven against Ozarks and HSU. Bianca Valderrama led the Patriots last week at UTD with 11 points after going 5-for-8 from the field and also grabbing five rebounds. A junior from Corpus Christi, Valderrama matched a career-best with nine rebounds in the win over Belhaven two weeks ago and is averaging 5.6 rebounds per game. She scored a season-best 12 points and also had seven rebounds in the win at Sul Ross.

UT Tyler will return home to host LeTourneau on Thursday, Feb. 1 and ETBU on Saturday, Feb. 3 to begin its final home stand of the season at the Herrington Patriot Center. The Patriots will then host Ozarks on Feb. 5 and UT Dallas on Feb. 10 before finishing off the regular season on the road at Belhaven and Louisiana College.
