TYLER – Alex Kochner was 4-for-4 on 3-pointers and scored 20 points to lead UT Tyler to a 97-47 non-conference win over Centenary on Wednesday in a game where the Patriots hit 13 shots from beyond the arc at the Herrington Patriot Center.

The Patriots (2-2) finished the game shooting 51.4 percent from the field, including going 13-for-21 on 3-pointers to cruise to the 50-point win over the Ladies (0-5). UT Tyler led 46-19 at halftime and had a plus-14 turnover advantage and 11 more rebounds. The 13 3-pointers are the sixth most in a game in program history, while the 97 points are the 13th most ever.

Kochner led the Patriots with 20 points and added six rebounds and two steals in the team’s second home win, while Demi Cumby scored 16 points and had four steals. Carissa Spiker led the team with six assists and also had 12 points and five rebounds, while Shadazia Birchette had 11 points. Spiker and Birchette led the reserves who scored 46 points against the Ladies who had 47 as a team. Bianca Valderrama also came off the bench and led the team with eight rebounds and Libby Waddell hit two 3-pointers and finished with six points. Alexus Bertrand started at point guard and hit two 3-pointers and led the team with five assists.

UT Tyler finished the game with 23 assists and 19 steals and limited the Ladies to 34.6 percent shooting. The Patriots will return to action at 2 p.m. on Saturday when they open American Southwest Conference play against Ozarks in Clarksville, Arkansas.
