SPOKANE, Wash. – The UT Tyler Patriots will face an elimination game tonight at 9 p.m. (CDT) after taking a 14-2 loss to No. 3 Trinity on Friday during the third day of the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship Spokane Regional at Avista Stadium.

The Patriots (32-18) are now 2-1 in the regional tournament and will play the winner of Pacific Lutheran and Whitworth who are currently in action. The winner of tonight’s game will play at 2 p.m. on Saturday against the Tigers who are 3-0 in the tournament and will need only one more win to advance out of the regional while their opponent will need two wins on Saturday.

UT Tyler struggled against the Tigers on Friday with TU finishing the game with 19 hits. Trinity would take a 7-0 lead after three innings and then put a five-spot on the board in the sixth to put it away.

The Patriots managed only two runs on nine hits in the game with Daniel Williams and Braxton Hollenshead each driving in runs. Williams went 3-for-4 in the game to extend his hitting streak to 13 games, while Josh Burns went 2-for-4 for the only other multi-hit game.

Max Page (3-3) took the loss after allowing five runs on five hits in two innings of work, while Walker (9-0) earned the win after striking out six and scattering nine hits over eight innings of work. UT Tyler is now 0-2 this season against the Tigers after also falling 11-6 in Tyler at the Clements Fluids Classic during the second week of the regular season.
