TYLER – The East Texas Athletic Trainers' Association will host its annual student athletic trainer workshop on Saturday at The University of Texas at Tyler’s Herrington Patriot Center.

The workshop is expected to provide athletic training development to over 100 student athletic trainers from throughout high schools in the east Texas region along with providing opportunities for professional athletic trainers to continue their education in the field. The ETATA workshop’s speakers include professional athletic trainers from UT Tyler, Grand Canyon University, Texas Lutheran and the Christian Sports Medicine Alliance.

Sam Hamilton, who is the ETATA president and Troup ISD head athletic trainer, said: “On behalf of the ETATA, I would like to thank The University of Texas at Tyler for hosting our annual Student Athletic Trainer workshop. We look forward to having area students and their athletic trainers participating in what is looking up to be a very informative and exciting workshop.”

The workshop speaker lineup includes; Brandon Warner (Grand Canyon), Brian Coulombe (TLU), Paul Waller (CSMA) and Marc Eilers (Grand Canyon).

“By bringing this workshop to UT Tyler, we are hoping to showcase our university's ability to produce quality program and provide high school students in the east Texas area with an opportunity to continue their education at an amazing university,” said Andrew Cage, UT Tyler head athletic trainer. “With both a professional track and a student track for this workshop, we believe that there will be helpful information for clinicians of all skill levels.”

Cage added: “I cannot begin to thank our excellent guest speakers enough for committing to help make this the best ETATA Workshop yet. Each speaker brings their own area of expertise that can do nothing but help us put on a stellar program.”
