AUSTIN – The UT Tyler Patriots had their three-game winning streak end with a 101-93 loss against Concordia on Thursday at the Concordia Fieldhouse despite hitting eight 3-pointers.

The Patriots (8-4, 3-3 ASC) will return to action at 3 p.m. on Saturday against UMBH in the second game of a five-game road trip in Belton. The Cru (3-8, 0-2 ASC) are also coming off a loss after taking a 63-63 defeat at home to LeTourneau on Thursday.

Demarcus Metcalf led UT Tyler on Thursday with his second 23-point performance of the season with a 4-for-4 shooting performance on 3-pointers, while Melvin Anthony had 14 points and nine rebounds for the Patriot who shot 39-for-65 from the field but saw the Tornados (7-5, 2-1 ASC) shoot 55.6 percent and become the only team to score over 100 points against them this season. Metcalf finished the game 9-for-14 from the field and also added four steals and four rebounds, while Anthony Gonzales went for 16 points and Darryn York had 12 points. Gonzales has now scored in double-figures in every game this season, while York is averaging 11.2 points per over the past three games after not scoring in double-figures in the first nine games of the season.

UT Tyler has now scored 90 or more points in four games this season and is averaging 80.8 points per game. Gonzales leads the team with 17.9 points per game, while Metcalf is averaging 19.3 points per game over the past four contests and is at 13.6 points and 6.7 rebounds per game this season.

Donovan Ford scored a game-high 25 points after hitting six 3-pointers for Concordia, while Rashad Coleman added 18 with four 3-pointers. The Tornados finished the game shooting 14-for-24 on their 3-point attempts and were 35-for-63 from the field. CTX’s 55.6 shooting percentage is the highest for a UT Tyler opponent this season, while the 14 3s were the second most.

The Patriots, who have doubled their win total from last season, are now 2-4 away from home this season and have only lost back-to-back games once this season. UT Tyler has lost the past three games its has played against UMBH, including both contests last season and will look to snap that streak and avoid its second losing steak on Saturday with a trip to the Mayborn Campus Center.
