AMERICAN SOUTHWEST CONFERENCE MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

CO-EAST DIVISION PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Nate West, So., G, LeTourneau
LeTourneau University sophomore guard Nate West (Houston, Texas) recorded the 12th triple-double in American Southwest Conference history in the YellowJackets’ 98-63 win at Howard Payne. West played all 40 minutes and registered 23 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists and two assists.
 
CO-EAST DIVISION PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Melvin Anthony, Sr., F, UT Tyler
University of Texas at Tyler senior forward Melvin Anthony (Killeen, Texas) led the Patriots by averaging 23.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.5 blocks per game. He went off for a career-high 30 points and 10 boards in a 95-93 conference win against Mary Hardin-Baylor, then followed it up with 17 points in an 89-80 victory over Colorado College. Anthony shot 60.7 percent (17-for-28) from the field and 7-for-11 from three-point range during the week.
 
CO-WEST DIVISION PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Caleb Thomasson, Sr., F, Sul Ross State
Sul Ross State University senior forward Caleb Thomasson (Ackerly, Texas) earned his second straight Player of the Week and fourth of his career by averaging 24.6 points, 9.3 rebounds, 5.3 steals, 1.7 steals and 1.0 blocks per game and leading the Lobos to a 3-0 week in conference play. He recorded 17 points, nine boards and seven assists in a 75-70 win against East Texas Baptist, then had 24 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals in a 71-58 victory at Louisiana College. He finished the week with 33 points, 13 boards and five assists in a 93-83 win at Belhaven. For the week, Thomasson shot 71.1 percent (32-for-45) from the field.
 
CO-WEST DIVISION PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Joe Neal, Jr., G, Concordia Texas
Concordia University Texas junior guard Joe Neal (Houston, Texas) scored a season-high 33 points to lead the Tornados past Ozarks 97-92. He scored 23 points in the second half, overcoming a six-point halftime deficit. Neal also recorded 10 rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals.

EAST DIVISION
Louisiana College junior forward Devon Washington (Houston, Texas) was consistent around the basket for the Wildcats, averaging a double-double with 16.3 points and 12.7 rebounds per game while going 1-2 on the week. He came up with 16 points and 16 boards in their 98-86 win against Birmingham-Southern.
 
East Texas Baptist University freshman forward Westin Riddick (Benton, Ark.) scored a career-high 33 points in a 99-92 double overtime victory at Trinity, going 10-for-17 from the floor and 8-for-15 from the three-point line. With the game tied at 91 with 2:24 to go in the second overtime, Riddick scored seven of the last eight points for the win. He averaged 16 points and 4.3 rebounds for the week as the Tigers went 2-1.
 
University of the Ozarks freshman guard Zach Bobo (Jacksonville, Ark.) averaged 13.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and a steal per game as the Eagles went 0-2 on the week.
 
WEST DIVISION
McMurry University senior forward LaRandall Scroggins (Carrollton, Texas) extended his double-digit scoring streak to eight games as the War Hawks split a pair of non-conference games. He averaged 15.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 65 percent (13-for-20) from the floor.
 
University of Mary Hardin-Baylor freshman guard Sam Moore (Gonzales, Texas) led the Cru in scoring as they went 1-1 on an ASC road trip. He scored 18 points in a 74-51 win at Ozarks, then poured in 25 points in a 95-93 loss at UT Tyler.
 
Hardin-Simmons University sophomore guard Chris Barrett (Arlington, Texas) ran the Cowboy offense with great efficiency as he averaged 11.5 points, 7.5 assists and 6.5 rebounds per game with just one turnover in 70 minutes. He just missed a triple-double with 12 points, nine boards and nine assists in an 85-80 win against Schreiner.
 
Howard Payne University senior guard Khyce Randall (Beaumont, Texas) averaged 18.3 points and 14. Rebounds per game as the Yellow Jackets went 2-1 on the week. He recorded back-to-back double-doubles with 27 points and a career-high 17 boards in a win at Belhaven and 12 points and 16 rebounds in a victory at Louisiana College.
