    Hepler to resign from UT Tyler positions at semester's end

    Bob Hepler has announced his intentions to resign from his positions as The University of Texas at Tyler’s head men’s and women’s Track & Field and Cross Country coach and Director of the Louise Herrington Patriot Center (HPC) following the completion of the Spring 2018 semester to pursue coaching positions at Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. A 20-time American Southwest Coach of the Year, he will continue in his current roles at UT Tyler until that time.

    @Patriot_sb picked to win 2018 ASC championship

    The UT Tyler softball team is picked to win the American Southwest Conference after receiving 23 of 26 first-place votes from the league's head coaches and sports information directors. Additionally, Andrea Gonzales, Hannah Moore and Colleen Bentke were identified as ASC Players to Watch in the conference’s preseason release.

    @UTTylerBaseball picked to repeat as ASC champions

    The No. 16-ranked UT Tyler baseball team has been picked to win the American Southwest Conference for the fourth straight season and for the seventh time in program history after receiving 21 of 26 first-place votes in the preseason poll from league head coaches and media members. In addition, senior pitcher Ryan Cheatham and first baseman Alex Bishop have been selected as ASC Players to Watch.

    PREVIEW: @UTTylerWBB, UTD set for ASC showdown

    On a three-game winning streak and the American Southwest Conference leaders in field goal percentage, scoring margin and 3-pointers per game, the UT Tyler women’s basketball team will travel to Richardson to take on UT Dallas at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday at the UTD Activity Center in its only game of the week. The matchup is between the past five ASC Champions, with UTT winning the conference title in 2014 and 2016 and UTD winning in 2013, 2015 and 2017.

    Emeka Obukwelu has been selected to the Small College Basketball Watch List for the Bevo Francis Award of 2018 which consists of 100 of the finest men’s basketball players in the country who compete in the affiliations of NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA Division I, NAIA Division II, USCAA and NCCAA.

    AWARD: Obukwelu named ASC East Player of the Week

    Emeka Obukwelu earned his third American Southwest Conference Player of the Week honors after he continued his sophomore-season dominance last week by averaging 27.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game in a pair of ASC wins over Louisiana College and Belhaven at home. Obukwelu is third in the nation with a 75.1 shooting percentage and finished last week shooting 73.5 percent from the field, including going 13-for-15 from the field against the Blazers where he finished with 30 points and eight rebounds. He started the week by getting his seventh double-double of the season with 25 points and 13 rebounds in the overtime win over the Wildcats. He also had a career-high four blocks against Belhaven to solidify his strong play last week.
