TYLER – The UT Tyler Track & Field team will compete at the at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Classic in the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco.
The Patriots are competing in their fourth indoor meet of the season and will start the day with Whitney Simmons competing in the weight throw at 11 a.m. on Thursday. Simmons has won all three previous meets at the University of Houston, Missouri Southern and set a new program record and NCAA Division III’s top mark this season at 19.10 meters in Boston. Lexie Petty will also be throwing in the weight throw on Thursday.

Teams competing at the event include: Abilene Christian Arkansas Pine Bluff, Grambling, Hardin-Simmons, Houston Baptist, McMurry, Midwestern State, Oklahoma Christian, Prairie View A&M, Sam Houston, Southern Arkansas, Texas A&M-Commerce and A&M-Corpus Christi.
The Patriots will return home to host the East Texas Time Trials next Friday in their first outdoor meet of the season.
