UT Tyler Places 37 on ASC All-Academic List

The University of Texas at Tyler placed 37 student-athletes and student assistants in spring sports on the American Southwest Conference All-Academic honors list, the conference office announced Tuesday.

Overall, the ASC recognized 359 student-athletes and athletics support staff student assistants who earned Academic All-Conference honors for the spring 2006 season.

For the Patriots, 14 baseball players, ten softball players, seven tennis players, two golfers and four assistants from athletic training and sports information received honors.

The spring ASC All-Academic honors list includes 329 student-athletes from the sports of baseball, golf, softball, tennis and track and field. Thirty student assistants with the member athletic training and sports information staffs were honored for the 2005-06 academic year. All 16 American Southwest Conference member institutions were represented on the spring 2006 honor roll.

To be eligible for ASC All-Academic honors, student-athletes must letter in the spring 2006 season, be in at least the second academic year at their institution, and carry a career grade-point average of 3.00 or better. Student assistants in athletic training and sports information are recommended by their directors and carry a career grade-point average of 3.20 (athletic training) or 3.00 (sports information).
