TYLER- The UT Tyler Tennis teams will travel to Orlando, Florida this week where the programs will both be playing six matches in three days. Play will be Monday through Wednesday as the men will take on NCAA Division III and NAIA schools from around the country and the women will face-off against NCAA Division I, Division III, and NAIA competition.

“We are really hoping to build team-unity on top of what we already have with this road trip,” UT Tyler coach Adam Cohen said. “We know that we will be playing some really tough competition throughout the season and this trip will help prepare us for some of it. We are playing tremendous doubles and are starting to show big signs of life in our singles matches as well. Our players are starting to buy into some of the concepts we are teaching them. I am excited to see how we do.”

The No. 26-ranked men’s team heads to Florida with a record of 3-1 and are coming off of wins over Austin College and UT Permian Basin.  The team has a singles record of 14-10 with No. 38 Vinicio Hadlich leading the team with a 3-1 record. The No. 22 doubles team Daniel Rodriguez and Gabriel Hidalgo have helped the team to a record of 9-3 in doubles play. The men will return to Tyler to face Cal Tech at the Summers Tennis Center next Sunday at 11 a.m.

The women’s team has a record of 2-1 after defeating Austin College 8-1 last weekend. Alexis Arrieta and Savannah Seely lead the team in singles play with records of 2-0, while doubles team Alexandra McKissick and Alexis Arrieta have a 2-0 record for the Patriots. The team is 11-7 in singles play and 6-3 in doubles this spring. Marisa Quevedo made her UT Tyler spring season debut last week where she won both her singles and doubles match, leading to an ASC Player of the Week honor.

The teams will play two matches per day while in Florida with the first match of each day beginning at 9 a.m. You can follow all UT Tyler sports at and get live updates through social media at
