RECAP: @patriotstennis falls on second day in Orlando

ORLANDO – The UT Tyler tennis teams dropped a pair of non-conference matches on Tuesday with the women’s team falling 6-3 to Case Western Reserve and the men taking a 6-3 loss to No. 15 Amherst at the USTA Tennis Center.

Arthur Fagundes improved his singles record to 7-0 on the year with a 6-1, 6-1 first singles win over Amherst’s Anton Zykov and Daniel Rodriguez secured a 7-6, 6-3 third singles win for the Patriots. UT Tyler’s Joey Fischer and Pablo Gomez were 8-3 winners to move to 9-1 in second doubles play this season.

The women’s team is now 6-5 on the season after taking the loss to No. 20 Case Western. Tori Musngi would improve to 8-1 on the season when here opponent retired to take a win in second singles for her 53rd career win, while Savannah Seely was a 6-2, 6-1 sixth singles winner and is now 7-4 on the season. Alexandra McKissick and Seely teamed up for an 8-5 third doubles win for the Patriots who trailed 1-2 after doubles play.

The Patriots will return to action on Wednesday against Kenyon College in Orlando before returning to Texas where they will play three matches this weekend at Southwestern University in Georgetown.

UT Tyler will play Kenyon College at 7:30 a.m. (CST) at the USTA Tennis Center with a live broadcast being available.
