RESULTS: McMurry  //  Hardin-Simmons

ABILENE – The UT Tyler men’s tennis team rolled to a pair of 9-0 wins over McMurry and Hardin-Simmons on Saturday in its American Southwest Conference openers.

Arthur Fagundes and Vinicio Hadlich earned two first doubles wins starting with an 8-4 win over McMurry and then taking a 9-8 (7-5) victory against Hardin-Simmons at the Streich Tennis Center. Fagundes took a 6-4, 6-3 first singles win over HSU after Hadlich had a 6-1, 6-2 first singles win against McMurry at the Seidel-Swagerty Tennis Center. Hadlich, a sophomore transfer from Brazil, would also take a 6-1, 6-2 win over the Cowboys in second singles to have a four-win day.

Daniel Rodriguez earned two singles wins on Saturday with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Travis Gough from McMurry in second singles and then a 6-3, 6-3 third singles victory at HSU. Pablo Gomez and Joey Fischer earned a pair of 8-2 second doubles wins with Gomez also taking a 6-2, 6-0 fourth singles win at HSU. Jose McIntyre and Gabriel Hidalgo left Abilene with two doubles wins after taking an 8-1 third doubles victory over Miller/Blair of McMurry and then an 8-4 win over Eurek/Davis over at HSU.

UT Tyler (2-1) will host two matches next weekend when they play non-conference contests against UT Permian Basin on Friday, Feb. 17 at 2 p.m. and Millsaps on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 10 a.m. at the Summers Tennis Center in its first home games of the spring schedule.
