Fagundes, Hadlich rise in ITA national rankings

UT Tyler's Arthur Fagundes is ranked No. 11 and Vinicio Hadlich is No. 38 in the ITA Division III Men's National Singles rankings. In doubles play, Fagundes and Jose McIntyre are No. 13, while Daniel Rodriguez and Gabriel Hidalgo come in at No. 22 after a strong performance in the ITAs during the fall.

TEMPE, Ariz. –
 Oracle and the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced the first Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Division III National Singles and Doubles Rankings of the 2017-18 season on Wednesday, with singles and doubles champions from the 2017 ITA Oracle Cup holding the top positions.
Wesleyan’s Eudice Chong is the No. 1-ranked singles player, and the three-time NCAA champion also is ranked No. 1 in doubles with partner Victoria Yu. Chong and Yu, the 2017 NCAA Division III doubles champions, won the Division III and Oracle Cup doubles titles at the ITA Oracle Cup to earn an automatic bid into the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships. The Wesleyan duo won a pair of matches against Division I opponents to reach the quarterfinal round. Chong also competed in the singles draw at the National Fall Championships, and posted a win in the consolation draw.

Mohanad Al Houni of Gustavus Adolphus is the No. 1-ranked men’s singles player. Al Houni defeated the No. 2-ranked player, Daniel Levineof Carnegie Mellon, 6-4, 6-4 in the Division III men’s singles final at the ITA Oracle Cup. Chicago’s Jeremy Yuan and Tyler Raclin are positioned as the No. 1-ranked doubles team. Yuan and Raclin were crowned Division III men’s doubles champions at the ITA Oracle Cup following their 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory over Bowdoin’s Luke Tercek and Grant Urken, who are ranked No. 2.

The first set of national team rankings will be released on January 18, 2018.
