No. 32 @Patriottennis falls 5-3 to No. 19 Whitman College

Seguin- The No. 32 UT Tyler men’s tennis team fell to the No. 19 Whitman College 5-3, with one match going unfinished at Texas Lutheran University in the last regular season match of the season.

In singles play, Arthur Fagundes picked up another win on the two court to improve to 14-5 on the season. He defeated Phillip Locklear of Whitman 6-2,3-6,10-5 to give the Patriots their first win of the day. Joey Fischer would also win in singles play on court four against Petar Jivkov, going 7-5, 6-4. He improves to 10-9 overall.

In doubles play, Arthur Fagundes and Frankie Fischer teamed up to win the one court 8-6 to give the Patriots their only win in doubles action. The pair is 8-5 on the season.

Other notable performances is Daniel Budd’s loss on the one court where he battled, but dropped the match 6-7,6-3,11-9. Joey Fischer and Pablo Gomez also dropped the doubles match 9-7 on court three against Whitman to put up a good fight.

This is a non conference matchup and the Patriots move to 14-9 on the season as they head into the American Southwest Conference tournament.
