@patriotstennis drops match to defending national champ

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The UT Tyler men’s tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Friday on the first day of the Stag-Hen Invitational which was delayed and postponed due to rain. The Patriots (10-2) will resume play in California at 11 a.m. (CST) against Kenyon at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center.

CMS, which is the defending NCAA DIII National Champions, took two of three doubles matches from the Patriots and is the first DIII team to top the Patriots this season.

Arthur Fagundes earned a 6-2, 6-4 second singles win for the only UT Tyler win in singles play, while Pablo Gomez and Joey Fischer earned an 8-6 third doubles victory.

UT Tyler will play another match on Saturday with that matchup to be determined by results against Kenyon.
