SKILLMAN, N.J. -- After a successful Spring Break trip to California in which it went 3-1 against four top-20 teams, the UT Tyler men's tennis team has been ranked as the No. 10 team in the country in the recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Top-30 poll released on Thursday, its highest ranking in program history.
The Patriots defeated No. 16 Pomona-Pitzer 6-3, No. 13 Whitman 5-4 and No. 18 Carnegie-Mellon 5-4 in a span of four days.
UT Tyler's only loss was to the No. 9 ranked UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs, 6-3.
The Patriots have two more scheduled matchups with top-ranked teams, facing No. 8 Johns Hopkins on Tuesday, March 19 in San Antonio and No. 7 Trinity on Sunday, April 14.
The five-team defending American Southwest Conference champions will continue conference play on Monday, March 29 against Texas-Dallas in Tyler.
