CARY, N.C. --Three UT Tyler tennis players will begin competing in the 2012 NCAA Tennis Championships Thursday afternoon at the Cary Tennis Park. The National Championships are hosted by Meredith College and the Town of Cary.
The NCAA Division III Tennis Committees selected the 32 singles players and 16 doubles teams that will compete in the individual championships.
On the women's side, freshman Amy Friesenhahn was one of 32 individuals selected to participate. Women's play will begin around 10 a.m.
For the men, the duo of Kevin Singer and Ryan Spencer was one of the 16 pairs selected. Men's doubles play will begin at 3 p.m.
The selection of teams and individuals for the championships is based on
won-lost record, strength of schedule and eligibility and availability
of student-athletes.

The draws for the individual championships will be done by the NCAA
tennis committees and will be released late Wednesday.
