RICHARDSON -- The University of Texas at Tyler's Kevin Singer and Amy Friesenhahn were named the American Southwest Conference Men's and Women's tennis players of the week, respectively, for leading both tennis teams to 3-0 weeks to start the season.
Singer (JR/Dallas, Texas) went 3-0 at No. 1 singles and doubles against Mary Hardin-Baylor, Howard Payne and Southwestern. Singer, who lost only two games in three singles matches, teamed with Ryan Spencer in doubles. Singler’s play also fueled three team victories for the Patriots.
For the women, Friesenhahn, a freshman from Austin, also went 3-0 at No. 1 singles and doubles against Mary Hardin-Baylor, Howard Payne and Southwestern. She teamed with Sydni Hermsdorf in doubles. Friesenhahn’s play led three team victories for the Patriots.
The tennis teams will be back in action this weekend at home, hosting Ozarks and Midwestern State at the Summers Tennis Center.
