PREVIEW: @patriotstennis looks to win divisions on Friday

Thursday, April 13, 2017

TYLER – The UT Tyler tennis teams will go on the road on Friday looking to secure a pair of American Southwest Conference East Division Championships with wins over LeTourneau and Louisiana College.

The Patriot men are 14-6 on the season after earning wins over Belhaven and East Texas Baptist last weekend, while the women’s team is 2-0 in conference play after earning a 5-4 win over ETBU last Saturday at the Summers Tennis Center. A pair of victories on Friday would give both teams the ASC East Championships. The men would host the ASC Championship tournament from May 4-6 at the Summers Tennis Center, while the ASC West Division Champion will host the women’s tournament next weekend.

The teams will have to take care of business on Friday though, starting with a 9 a.m. match against LeTourneau in Longview and then heading across the state line to play a 4 p.m. match against Louisiana College in Pineville, Louisiana.

UT Tyler is the defending champion at the men’s and women’s ASC Championships.
